Get a New Van is very passionate about the Legends Car Championship and are proud sponsors of Nathan Anthony Racing. We're honoured to have the reigning Legends Car Championship champion, Lawrence Davey leading our team once again this coming year.
This popular sporting activity is getting prestige & offers the chance to take pleasure in countless hours of competitive and non-competitive fun driving around several of the UK’s top race tracks.
So How Does Legends Racing Work?
Operating ever since the late 1990s, the Legends Car Championship visits tracks all around the UK, and forms a 15 round championship.
3 races are held - 2 heats and a final - at a round of the Legends Car Championship, the heats lasting approximately 7 and 12 laps dependant upon the circuit, with the final a handful of laps longer. The grid for race 1 is drawn by drawing lots, with the opposite for Heat 2, and in the final the grid is formed by the reverse of the driver’s points in the earlier two events - meaning that the most successful driver begins at the back.
Competitors are not able to make any key transformations to the original car. Add a strict set of rules and you've got a series that is fair for everybody involved.
Exciting Sport
The sport provides all the enjoyment of Formula 1 motor racing but at a considerably more affordable level.
At Smart Legends, we provide numerous race day sponsorships and company events. As well as being exciting they also provide chance to advertise your own business.
What exactly is a Legends Sports car?
The vehicle used for Legends Car Championship racing is a model of race car, intended primarily to market stimulating racing whilst also reduce expenses.
The body shells of Legends Cars are 5/8-scale replications of American motor vehicles from the 1930s and 1940s, powered by a Yamaha motor bike motor.
In April of '92, an excellent new race car, the Legends Car, was presented at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. H.A. "Humpy” Wheeler and Elliott Forbes-Robinson, created the 5/8-scale fibreglass versions of the famed 1930-1940 NASCAR’s .The idea was to provide a fun, safe, and easily affordable "spec" class of racing for everybody.
The cars feature a Yamaha FJ 1200 motorcycle engine which produces 125 horsepower. Horsepower is not a major element in the Legends Cars Series considering that the rules require use of a 13 inch, 60 series BF Goodrich radial "Legends Edition" tyre mounted on a 7-inch wide steel wheel.
The key reason why Legends Cars are so aesthetically attractive?
One of reasons behind the prosperity of the car used in the Legends Car Championship is without question the car's overall appearance. The fibreglass bodied cars are nearly precise replicas of the 1934 and 1940 Fords and Chevys that launched the grassroots of racing as we know it.
Every 2 " of the original car bodies were measured and minimized by computers to assure their validity. Unlike bigger, full-size cars, the Legends Car provides a "attractive" look and feel at first glance. However the power of 120 horses of the Yamaha FJ 1200 immediately dispels any ideas that this race car means anything but serious business.
