So How Exactly Does Legends Racing Function?
This ever more popular sporting activity is gaining notoriety all the time & provides the chance to indulge in countless hours of competitive and non-competitive excitement whilst driving around some of the UK’s premier race tracks.
Operating since the late 90's, Legends Racing comes to visit tracks across the UK, and ran a fifteen round championship, however they did not visit Scotland during the past year.
3 races are held - 2 heats and a final - at a round of the championship, the heats lasting somewhere between 7 and 12 laps dependant upon the circuit, with the final a couple of laps longer. The grid for race 1 is drawn by drawing lots, with the reverse for Heat 2, and in the final the grid is formed by the reverse of the drivers points in the earlier two races - which means the most successful driver will begin the race at the back.
Stimulating Activity
Legends Racing offers the whole set of excitement of Formula 1 motor racing but at a considerably more affordable level.
At Smart Legends, we provide you with a variety of race day sponsorships and company events. As well as being exciting the cars also give the opportunity to advertise your own business.
What exactly is a Legends Vehicle?
The vehicle utilised for Legends Racing is a style of race car, created primarily to enhance stimulating racing and also to keep costs down. The body shells of Legends Cars are 5/8-scale replications of American motor vehicles from the 1930s and 1940s, driven by a Yamaha motor cycle motor.
In April of 92, an innovative new race car, the Legends Car, was presented at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. H.A. "Humpy” Wheeler and Elliott Forbes-Robinson, created the 5/8-scale fibreglass versions of the famed 1930-1940 NASCAR’s .The theory was to produce a fun, reliable, and easily affordable "spec" class of racing for anyone.
Competitors are not permitted to make any major modifications to the original car. Add a no-nonsense group of rules and you've got a series that is fair for everyone involved.
The cars feature a Yamaha FJ 1200 motorcycle engine which produces 125 hp. Hp is not a major element in the Legends Cars Series because the rules require use of a 13 inch, 60 series BF Goodrich radial "Legends Edition" tyre mounted on a 7-inch wide steel wheel.
The Reasons why Legends Racing Cars are so Visually Appealing?
One of reasons behind the success of the Legends Racing Cars is without a doubt the car's look and feel. The fibreglass bodied cars are virtually exact replicas of the 1934 and 1940 Fords and Chevys that founded the grassroots of racing as we know it.
All two inches of the original car bodies were calculated and reduced by computer systems to ensure their authenticity. As opposed to bigger, full-size cars, the Legends Car boasts a "lovely" visual appearance at first glance. Nevertheless the power of 120 horses of the Yamaha FJ 1200 swiftly dispels any notions that this race car means anything but serious business.
