Track Day Race Car Specifications
The vehicle utilized for our racing track days is a Legends Racing Car, intended primarily to encourage exhilarating competition whilst also keep costs down. The bodyshells of Legends Cars are 5/8-scale replications of American automobiles from the 1930s and 1940s, operated by a Yamaha motorcycle motor.
In April of '92, a superb new race car, the Legends Race Car, was revealed at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. H.A. "Humpy” Wheeler and Elliott Forbes-Robinson, designed the 5/8-scale fiberglass versions of the famed 1930-1940 NASCAR’s .The reasoning powering this was to produce a fun, efficient, and inexpensive "spec" class of racing for all.
Competitors are unable to make any serious transformations to the original car. Add a no-nonsense variety of regulations and you have a series which is fair for everyone taking part.
The cars feature a Yamaha FJ 1200 motorcycle engine which produces 125 horse power. Hp is not a major aspect in the Legends Cars Series considering that the rules require the application of a 13 inch, 60 series BF Goodrich radial "Legends Edition" tyre mounted on a 7-inch wide steel wheel.
Among the factors behind the positive results of the Legends Car Series is definitely the car's visual appearance. The fibreglass bodied cars are just about precise replicas of the 1934 and 1940 Fords and Chevys that established the grassroots of racing as we know it.
All two inches of the genuine car bodies were recorded and reduced by computer systems to be certain of their legality. As opposed to larger, full-size cars, the Legends Car possesses a "attractive" appearance at first. Nevertheless the power of 120 horses of the Yamaha FJ 1200 rapidly dispels any thoughts this particular race car means anything but serious business.
