What Type of Car Will I Drive?
The vehicle utilized for our UK track days is a Legends Racing Car, designed primarily to encourage thrilling racing whilst also keep costs down. The bodyshells of Legends Cars are 5/8-scale replications of American automobiles from the 1930s and 1940s, operated by a Yamaha motorcycle motor.
In April of '92, an excellent new race car, the Legends Car, was revealed at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. H.A. "Humpy” Wheeler and Elliott Forbes-Robinson, designed the 5/8-scale fiberglass versions of the famed 1930-1940 NASCAR’s .The reasoning behind was to produce a fun, dependable, and inexpensive "spec" class of racing for everyone.
The cars feature a Yamaha FJ 1200 motorcycle engine which produces 125 horse power. Hp is not a critical aspect in the Legends Cars Series considering that the rules require the utilization of a 13 inch, 60 series BF Goodrich radial "Legends Edition" tyre mounted on a 7-inch wide steel wheel.
Why Legends Cars are so easy on the eye?
One of reasons behind the achievements of the Legends Car is without question the car's appearance. The fibreglass bodied cars are just about precise replicas of the 1934 and 1940 Fords and Chevys that established the grassroots of racing as we know it.
All two inches of the original car bodies were measured and decreased by computer systems to ensure their validity. In contrast to larger, full-size cars, the Legends Car posesses a "attractive" visual appearance at first. Nevertheless the power of 120 horses of the Yamaha FJ 1200 rapidly dispels any notions this race car means anything but serious business.
